History of the parish

Edingale has a long history dating back to well before the Domesday Book and it is probable that ancient Britons first settled here. Throughout its history the settlements of Croxall and Edingale have been at various times located in Derbyshire and in Staffordshire. Throughout modern times Edingale has been largely a farming area. It became a civil parish in its present form in 1934.
